Job Title: Healthcare Instructor

Location: Vermont – Hybrid

Pay Range: $70,000 – $80,000 based on experience.

Summary of the Role:

The Healthcare Instructor is responsible for delivering the job-specific curriculum in virtual and on-site classroom settings and for working with JobForward staff to support the recruitment and selection of candidates for upcoming job-training (apprenticeship) programs. This role also supports post-delivery activities, including job placement support and the documentation of grades and final course outcomes for each participant.

Additionally, this role develops curriculum and designs programs for a mixed audience of adult learners from various backgrounds with a focus on providing context for role responsibilities. Programs are developed for in-demand roles with our employer partners, who hire our participants, and may be offered within an apprenticeship program. This involves working with employer partners and subject-matter experts to gain a thorough understanding of a specific job role in the industries we serve, which may be healthcare, information technology, or advanced manufacturing; developing all coursework outlines, materials, guides, syllabi, exams, homework, and rubrics; and maintaining records in JobForward’s learning management system.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and refine the education curriculum through reverse engineering of the role to deliver logically sequenced training and instruction to adult learners – explaining why something is done to empower the students to make a difference in their new career path and engaging the students in their learning.
  • Participate in the development of the occupational apprenticeship framework including identifying work competencies and the instructional outline.
  • Deliver/facilitate existing or newly developed curriculum during the related instruction portion of the apprenticeship program.
  • Provide student mentoring and support throughout the training program and as needed through the one-year apprenticeship, adjusting information/support as required per the individual student.
  • Work with employer partners to facilitate all aspects of training.
  • Sets and demonstrates standard of performance for students to follow.
  • Partner with the JobForward staff to ensure a successful program, assist with the selection process for program participants, ensure students’ needs are met and effectively address performance expectations and personal needs.
  • Post bank deposits against receivables according to internal control procedures.
  • Be expected to successfully support students from diverse backgrounds across social, economic, and cultural differences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of our national non-profit goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Formal education:

Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of relevant work experience and education is required. Ability to prepare for and sit for relevant exams specific to the courses being taught, as applicable.

Professional experience:

This role requires at least 2 years of experience as a subject-matter instructor. Prefer subject matter expertise in healthcare apprenticeship disciplines or education/mentoring of others.

Prefer experience with the Socratic method of instruction and developing adult learning curricula. Completion of a college-level cooperative education experience or apprenticeship program is a plus.

  9. Mathematical Skills: Must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts applying concepts of basic mathematics.

    a. Make decisions and solve problems using sound reasoning and judgment.

    d. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or other form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must demonstrate mastery of the English language and the ability to articulate and communicate over the phone, via web meeting, and in person, to write reports and business correspondence promptly. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, individually as well as in teams.

TRAVEL

Domestic travel of approximately 25% is expected to attend candidate interviews, deliver training, attend industry conferences, client, partner, and company meetings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and read.  The employee is frequently required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Requirement to spend a considerable portion of some days on the keyboard conducting work and delivering training on camera. Also requires standing for long periods if delivering coursework in person.
